I think that the best part about backpacking and camping is sitting down by the fire after a long day of hiking and finally getting to eat dinner. I dream about what I’ll eat all day long: maybe a burger, breakfast for dinner, pasta, or Thai food. Mmmmm.
What I haven’t given much thought to in the past is how I’ll eat it. I’ve had the same plastic reusable camping cutlery set for years, and it has definitely seen better days. So I was excited to try out the new titanium cutlery set from @wolfandgrizzly! This fork and spoon set is lightweight, durable, and DISHWASHER SAFE! This makes post-camping cleanup a lot easier 🙌 I’ve been using it on all my trips over the last month and I love it so far (and definitely retired my old set in favor of this one)!

First thing you should notice about the ferro rod is it is painted black. I guess to just protect it until you buy it. The black paint scrapes off easy enough so don't worry about it. Once you do get to the actual rod itself and want to start a fire, well....Weeeeeeeeeeeee doggies!! Amazing big solid sparks come off of this thing fast and easy!! Use the side of the striker or the front (it's actually shaped to fit around the rid itself for easy compact storing, and you will be lighting a fire like an old time pyromaniac in a flash! Great in combination with the Spark Fiber!! And if you don't move fast...the gloves...get the gloves. Get all three...perfect package and gift for the camper/survivalist/ outdoor enthusiast everywhere. Just buy it. Do it. You know you wanna. Now.

This is the best fire starter I've purchased. The blade is solid and is long enough to generate a good spark that will light up a bit of dryer lint with ease.

Fire Set works by striking steel against a Ferrocerium rod which produces extremely hot sparks - up to 2980 C (5400 F)! Just make sure you have a nice bed of tinder and kindling for your sparks to fall into.
For Fire Set to work properly, use a highly flammable material as a catch for your sparks. We recommend using Spark Fiber or a cotton ball dabbed with a bit of petroleum jelly.
1. For optimal performance, use Spark Fiber or a cotton ball dabbed with some petroleum jelly as a catch for your sparks.
2. Prepare your kindling, such as birch bark or dry twigs.
3. Scrape off the black paint covering the ferro rod.
4. Set the ferro rod against Spark Fiber.
5. Use the top edge of the striker to apply pressure and strike firmly.
Your Fire Set doesn’t need much cleaning or long term care. Make sure to keep the ferro rod and striker clean of any dirt, grease, etc. that could hinder the ability to strike and spark cleanly.
